Checked against CIMA's timetable on . CIMA can change its dates, so confirm yours on the AICPA & CIMA exam timetable and in your CGMA exam dashboard before you plan around them.

Results appear on your CGMA exam dashboard on CIMA's published results day. Every window's dates are on our exam dates page.

What your result tells you

  • Pass or fail. That is the grade. There is no merit or distinction for the case study exams.
  • A scaled score from 0 to 150. 80 or more is a pass. It is not a percentage or a count of marks: CIMA scales raw marks so that results from different versions of the exam can be compared. How the pass mark works
  • Feedback for each core activity. For each one, it says whether you met the passing standard. The range shown next to each core activity is its weighting in CIMA's blueprint, not your score.
  • No minimum per core activity. You don't have to meet the standard in every core activity to pass. Stronger areas can carry a weaker one.

CIMA explains its results in its guide to examination results. CIMA also publishes pass rates for each sitting; we don't quote them here.

Failed in November? February uses the same pre-seen

Each pre-seen is used for two windows in a row. If you don't pass the first, you can sit the second on the same company, so the work you put into the pre-seen still counts. The new information in each task will be different.

  • OCS (Operational)Tendra Tents

First window , results . Second window , results .

About 3 weeks from the first results day to the second window.

  • MCS (Management)Wuudbreak

First window , results . Second window , results .

About 3 weeks from the first results day to the second window.

  • SCS (Strategic)Vennlisk

First window , results . Second window , results .

About 4 weeks from the first results day to the second window.

Book the second window through your CGMA exam dashboard before its scheduling window closes. The dates are on CIMA's timetable. If you don't pass the second window, the next window has a new pre-seen.

Practising for a resit

  • Already have a plan? Covers your next two exam sittings: both windows of the current pre-seen, or, if you buy after its first window, its second window and the first window of the next pre-seen. So a plan bought for the first window already covers the second.
  • Coming back? Back for another go? If your plan at a level ended in the last 12 months, or ends within 30 days, your next two sittings there cost half the plan price: OCS and MCS £89 for Pass or £159 for Pass Plus, SCS £99 or £174. It doesn't matter why: you didn't pass, you postponed or you didn't sit.
  • Resit cover. Pass Plus includes resit cover until you pass: if you don't pass, your next exam window is free, and so is each one after it until you pass. You need 40 marked answers and 1 full mock exam at your level before each sitting, then tell us your result.

What to do next

  1. Read your core activity feedback. Note which core activities met the passing standard and which didn't. That is where your practice should go first.
  2. Decide on your next window. If the next window uses the same pre-seen, you already know the company. Check the booking window before it closes.
  3. Read the examiner's comments. CIMA publishes an interim examiner's report about two weeks after a first window's results, and the full post-exam materials after the second window. Find them on the CGMA Study Hub.
  4. Practise your weakest core activities under time. Answer the task that was set, apply it to the company, and justify your recommendations. Then sit a full mock to check your timing across every section.
  5. Passed? Well done. The next level has its own pre-seen and its own core activities: see the Management and Strategic case study pages.
