CIMA case study practice: what's included
Everything in Eighty Marks in one place: tasks set in your pre-seen, marked following CIMA's published marking approach, your own answer rewritten a level up, a study tutor and a safety net.
The core of it
Marked in levels. Then rewritten a level up.
Every answer is marked following CIMA's published marking approach: each point placed at Level 1, 2 or 3 on technical understanding, communication, use of the information and application to the scenario, against the pass line of 80, with your strengths and what to fix first. Then you see your own answer rewritten to the next level up (the pass line, or 100 once you've passed), with the reason for each change, so you can write it again.
- Up to 30 marked answers a day on Pass, 80 on Pass Plus
- Up to 10 rewrites a day on Pass, 30 on Pass Plus
- Daily limits, set high enough for a full day of practice.
A marked answer, start to finish
The task
The finance director asks whether Example Co should open a second distribution centre. Write a short email with your recommendation.
Your answer (extract)
I recommend we proceed, subject to a lease break clause. The extra site cuts delivery time to our three largest customers and the payback is under four years on the figures provided.
Sample: an invented task and answer, not a real student's.
96 / 150
PASS LINE 80 · ABOVE
- Technical understandingLevel 3: figures used and explained
- Use of the informationLevel 2: tied to the company, one gap
- Application to the scenarioLevel 1: staff impact missing
- CommunicationLevel 2: clear recommendation
To reach 100: say what the move means for the warehouse team before you recommend it.
Then see your own answer rewritten to the next level up, with the reason for each change.
And the rest of what's included
What you get, in plain terms. The limits and conditions are the ones on the pricing page.
Every task in your pre-seen
Each practice task is set in your current pre-seen company, with new information to respond to, as in the exam. No pasting in a company or writing prompts.
One price for both exam dates
CIMA uses each pre-seen for two exam windows. One payment, from £179 a level, covers your next two sittings, with access until 14 days after the second. Buy after the first window and that's the second window plus the next pre-seen's first. No subscription.
In-depth reviews by the next morning
A slower, step-by-step review of a finished mock, ready by 7:00 the next morning (UK time). If one is late, you get the credit back. Pass Plus includes 3.
Resit cover until you pass
On Pass Plus, if you don't pass an exam you take while your plan is active, and you have done at least 40 marked answers and 1 full mock exam at your level for it, your next exam window is free, and so is each one after it until you pass.
Dot works on your page, not in a chat box
Dot, your study tutor, pins notes to your own sentences and checks each rewrite on the spot. Highlight a line of your pre-seen or a lesson to ask about it, and get one nudge when you're stuck in tutor mode.
Extra time if you need it
If CIMA gave you extra time in your exam, set the same in Settings. Your timers get longer to match. It never changes your marks.
How accurate is the marking
We follow CIMA's published 2026–27 marking approach. Each requirement is split into the points a marker rewards, and each point is placed at Level 1, 2 or 3 by best fit, then given a mark inside that level's range. A level is judged on technical understanding, communication, use of the information and application to the scenario. Marks are given for what you show, never taken away. You see the level and marks for each point, a score for each of the four elements, and your result by core activity, as a practice estimate out of 150 with the pass line at 80. Every answer is first marked automatically by AI against this scheme. You can query any mark: an independent second marking looks at it first, then a CIMA-qualified (CGMA) moderator if it doesn't settle. Our marks follow CIMA's published 2026–27 marking approach. They are a practice estimate to help you improve, not an official CIMA mark or a prediction of your result. Here is how we keep it honest. Your first task is free, so you can judge the marking yourself.
Follows CIMA's published marking approach
Marked following CIMA's published marking approach: each part of your answer placed at Level 1, 2 or 3 on technical understanding, communication, use of the information and application to the scenario, with feedback by core activity. You see a scaled estimate on the same 0–150 scale CIMA uses, with the pass line at 80, and your raw marks beside it.
Checked against human markers
Qualified markers are marking a sample of real answers on their own. We'll publish how close our marks come once 30 answers have been checked, good or bad.
Every query gets a second look
Think a mark is wrong? Tell us from your feedback. An independent second marking looks at it first, and a CIMA-qualified (CGMA) moderator checks any query that doesn't settle, or that you still disagree with. If the mark changes you see the new mark and the reason.
In-depth reviews checked by a person
On Pass Plus, every in-depth review of a mock reaches you by 7am and is checked by a CIMA-qualified (CGMA) moderator within 2 working days. Mock pack and Final week reviews are spot-checked.
