How it works
How CIMA case study practice works
From pre-seen release to exam day. Case study exams reward applying what you know to one company under time pressure. Everything here is built to practise exactly that.
- 01
Choose your plan
Pick the Operational, Management or Strategic case study and a plan. Your account is set up for that level and the current pre-seen straight away. Or start with one free marked task.
- 02
Open today's plan
Each day the plan picks the task that should help most, based on your weakest areas and how close your exam is.
- 03
Write a timed task
Answer a question set in your pre-seen company, in the role the exam gives you, against the clock you will really face. If CIMA gave you extra time, set the same in Settings and your timer matches it.
- 04
Get marked in minutes, not days
Feedback in about a minute: marks for each point at Level 1, 2 or 3, a score for each of the four elements and feedback by core activity, with the points to fix.
- 05
Study your improved answer
See your own answer rewritten to the next level up, with the reason for each change, then write it again in your own words.
- 06
Fix it with Dot
Dot pins notes to the sentences that cost you marks. Rewrite one and Dot checks it straight away. Highlight any line of your pre-seen or a lesson to ask Dot about it.
- 07
Track your readiness
Watch your practice readiness against the pass line of 80 build over time, and see where to spend the next hour.

How case study marking works
- CIMA's case study exams are marked by trained human markers. Each sub-task is split into traits, and each trait is placed at Level 1, 2 or 3 by best fit (or given no marks when there is no rewardable material), judged on technical understanding, communication, use of the information and application to the scenario. Your result is a pass or fail, a scaled score out of 150 (80 or more is a pass) and feedback by core activity.
- Every answer is marked by AI, following CIMA's published marking approach. A practice estimate, not a CIMA score. How marking works
